2010-2011 Kendall Wrestling Alumni Night By: Ashley Riviere Communications Intern
The stands in the Kendall Senior High School gymnasium were packed on Tuesday, December 21 for an exciting wrestling match against Holley, and to honor alumni from as far back as the 1960s. This is the second year the Wrestling Alumni Night has been held. Alumni who had participated in the Kendall wrestling program for at least a full year were invited to attend the special ceremony. About 30 former Kendall wrestlers were called down individually to the mat to be recognized by current wrestlers, coaches and administrators. “Our goal of the alumni night is to keep the connection between the past and present alive,” said Varsity Wrestling Head Coach Michael Bourne. The alumni continue to support the current Kendall wrestlers on a regular basis, strengthening the program and all of its players, he said. “A rich athletic program is not possible without the work ethic passed down through the community. Those who came before our current athletes deserve to be recognized for their contributions” Bourne said. The sports boosters also sold Kendall wrestling shirts at cost, ensuring the audience had proper blue and white spirit to cheer on the Eagles in their match against Holley.
