Holley wrestling team has 7 all-stars, coach of the year
Holley coach John Grillo captured his 15th Genesee Region League coach of the year as the Hawks again proved to be one of the best wrestling programs in New York. Holley finished ranked 10th in Division II (small schools) in the state, one of four Section 5 programs ranked in the top 20.
The Hawks finished with a perfect 6-0 league record, and finished 34-4 overall.
It is the 17th GR title for Grillo, another notch on an impressive resume — 11 Section 5 team championships, 20 New York State representatives, four state champions and was a finalist for national coach of the year in 2005.

Kendall Wrestling Crowns Two Sectional Champions
The Kendall CSD grapplers had a solid ending to their strong 2010-2011 season. The team placed 3rd out of 16 teams at the Class B Championships held at Geneseo in early February. In particular, Devin Iqbal (103) and Jake ReQua (125) won sectional championships at their individual weight classes. The first place finish was Jake's 4th consecutive championship and Devin's 1st. Also, Averey Iqbal (96) and Jimmy Wiler (135) reached the finals but fell just short of reaching the top of the podium by placing 2nd respectively. Other top finishers included Mason ReQua 4th (112), James Klafehn 5th (130), Luke Stimac 4th (135), Dan McLaren 5th (140), Justin Mullins 6th (145), Josh Vogt 4th (152), and Gabe Sobieraski 4th (160).
Each of the aforementioned individuals qualified for the Section V Championships at RIT the following weekend to face off against the toughest competition possible in the Greater Rochester Region. The Eagles experienced highs and lows over the course of the weekend but capped off a strong season in respectable fashion. Jake ReQua (112) finished in 4th place along with Jimmy Wiler (135) who came in 5th. It was quite an accomplishment for each of these two young men considering the high level of competition they faced off against. Collectively, all of the hard work that this team put forth and exhibited laid the foundations for success. All of the seniors will be greatly missed but their determination will not be lost amongst the underclassmen remaining. The Eagles are already starting to prepare for the 2011-2012 season which is a good sign of things to come.
